JU Kathua Campus organizes guest lecture

JAMMU, Nov 16 : Kathua Campus, University of Jammu today hosted a special guest Lecture on the theme  “Global Business and  Technological Evolution ” for the students of MCA, MBA and MBA-IB from Kathua, Bhaderwah,  Ramnagar and main Campus of Jammu University. Kailash P. Sharma, Director Services (USA, UK), Dell Computers, was the invited speaker.
Mr. Sharma shared his valuable experiences with the students regarding current trends in the global IT industry and explained how global business dynamics is affecting the industry and supply chains of various companies in a big way. He also shared with the students that how Dell India Ltd. as a company is operating in a competitive business scenario and the importance it places on consumer service.
He talked about the future of IT industry, emerging technologies like cloud computing, e-retailing, artificial intelligence and e-mind mapping, robotics etc. He also spoke at length on  how computing can create wonders by the year 2020.
He also added that India at present is a nine million computer market, which is bound to grow up to 25 million by the year 2025. Citing examples, he also shared his views about the advantage of using cloud computing which is not expensive and where one can share resources. He stressed on how such innovative and creative technologies can be incorporated in the business so as to bring competitive advantage to the firms. He emphasized on the importance of having good communication skills as one of the quality to crack any interview.
On the occasion, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Rector, Kathua Campus said that in today’s competitive business environment, the role of technological innovations and IT have increased manifold. She emphasized that functional knowledge backed by professional handling shall ultimately sustain the competitive edge. “Optimum and updated business-technology blend outlives competition”, said Prof Rohmetra
Dr. Vivek Sharma, Academic Co-coordinator, coordinated the activity, while Bhanu Pratap Singh presented the vote of thanks. MBA and MBA Faculty from various Campuses also attended the lecture.
Mr. Sharma has earned his Masters’ in Supply Chain Management and Quality and Six Sigma from Texas University and Nashville University, USA respectively. He has 18 years of corporate experience and has worked with companies like LG, PANASONIC and AGILENT, before joining DELL. He has a first hand working experience in countries like US, KOREA and JAPAN. He is also the member of ‘Global technology Forum’and ‘Global IT Education Forum’.
