JAMMU, Jan 29: Realising the need to promote Startup ecosystem and entrepreneurial spirit among the budding lawyers, the Placement Cell of the The Law School, University of Jammu organised an interactive session for third and fifth semester students.
Under the guidance of Prof Manju Jamwal, Director of The Law School, the session was successfully handled by Ishan Verma, President, J&K Startup Association.
Ishan Verma informed that navigating the legal landscape is crucial for start-ups to establish themselves and thrive in the Indian market. The social and economic revolutions of the 21st century, the development of info-tech, the globalisation of economic activities, the blurring of differences between professions and sectors and the increasing integration of knowledge has driven the entrepreneurial transformation of the legal profession, he emphasised.
He further highlighted the fact that new lawyers entering the practice, whether they are sole practitioners or working inside a law firm, must be fully trained to be capable of applying the law and managing the fluctuations inside law firms. This entrepreneurial relationship with the legal profession already exists in countries abroad, he said and concluded that it will be out of touch with reality to view the legal profession as an isolated field that has nothing to do with innovation and invention.
Dr Seema Rohmetra , Associate Professor in The Law School, Informed the gathering that the agenda of Viksit Bharat@2047 and NEP embeds an interdisciplinary approach and recognizes the startup ecosystem as a driving force for innovation and economic prosperity.
Earlier, Dr Shubha Vats, Sr Asst Professor in The Law School, formally introduced the theme of the program. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Nitan Sharma.
