JAMMU, Dec 21: The Law School, University Jammu is organizing awareness/sensitization activities/programme/lecture series related to Constitutional Obligations: Values, Rights, Duties and Responsibilities of the Citizens as such activities constitute an integral part of good academic practices so as to sensitize the students and prepare them to become responsible and informed citizens.
In this context, a lecture was organized in the Department of Education, University of Jammu, here today to sensitize the students and scholars about their constitutional obligations. It was attended by the students, scholars and the employees of the department.
Dr Kajal Manhas, Senior Assistant Professor of the Department introduced Dr Bindu Sangra as the Resource Person of the day and appreciated the efforts initiated by the department for engaging the lecture on such a relevant topic.
Dr Bindu Sangra emphasised that citizens are required to follow the ideal code of behaviour, which runs parallel to the eleven basic obligations on the fundamental duties as the essence of the Constitution. She further explained that the Indian Constitution outlines people’s basic rights and responsibilities which are developed along the lines of a moral, ethical, and cultural code of behaviour that must be observed by the citizens in order to maintain and defend sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the nation, which aids the Government in preserving good governance and enabling a democratic society.
The lecture was followed by a question and answer session where the enthusiastic students and scholars asked questions on the core values of Constitutional rights and fundamental duties at length.
