JU likely to switch over from EoI to open tenders for Science Congress

JAMMU, Nov 4: After a month long tug of war, the tendering process for key arrangements in the Indian Science Congress is all set to back to square one as Jammu University is likely to switch over from Expression of Interest (EoI) mode to open tenders.
This was decided today in the meeting of apex tender committee soon after its reconstitution with the appointment of Registrar Prof Manoj K Dhar as the convener replacing Prof Naresh Padha, sources in the JU secretariat informed the Excelsior.
In the reconstituted committee, Prof Naresh Padha and Meena Sharma, who are Science Congress Secretaries, will be the members along with Jai Kumar Sharma, Jatinder Khajuria, Dr Anik Gupta, Vivek Sharma and all conveners of different tender committees, sources further said, adding that Ginni Dogra has been made member secretary of the apex committee in place of Vivek Sharma.
Notwithstanding the apprehensions of some members that restarting the tendering process afresh would further delay the Science Congress arrangements besides inviting some legal hurdles, the apex committee decided to shift from EoI to open tenders, sources explained.
When contacted, Prof Manoj K Dhar said that a final decision over the mode of tendering would be taken tomorrow in the apex committee meeting, which remained inconclusive today.
