JU Non-Gazetted employees continue protest

JAMMU, July 7: Ignoring the Jammu University administration’s appeal for suspending their ongoing token strike, the JU Non-Gazetted employees continued with their three-hour protest on Thursday in the campus.
Suspending work, the protesting employees took out a march in the campus and also closed the university main gate. They raised slogans in support of their demands and vowed to continue struggle for justice.
The protest was organized under the banner of Jammu University Non-Gazetted Employees Union, led by its president Vijay Kumar, who accused the JU administration of misleading the employees.
The protesting Non-Gazetted employees are demanding removal of 2750 Grade, cancellation of order on disengagement of employees of Human Genetics Department, 17 percent promotion quota for Graduate class IV employees as per Kashmir University, creation of posts of different categories, etc.
Even as members of JU Task Force Committee visited the protesting employees and requested them for suspending the ongoing strike, the NGEU refused to do the same.
Pertinent to mention that JU had issued a public appeal to the protesting employees to call off their strike as maximum of their demands are claimed to have been conceded while others are under consideration.
