As part of this initiative, Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO of Blue Planet, visited the Centre for IT Enabled Services & Management (CITES&M) to explore opportunities for technology-driven sustainability and startup incubation.
Singh, recently appointed as a member of CITES&M’s newly constituted Advisory Board, will contribute to shaping policies and strategies that align with the University’s vision of becoming an IT hub. The Board aims to bridge the gap between academia, industry and Government to drive impactful initiatives.
Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai emphasized the University’s commitment to integrating industry expertise into academics, citing initiatives like the Design Your Degree (DYD) program. “Through collaborations with global leaders like Blue Planet, we are ensuring our students emerge as entrepreneurs and innovators, contributing to India’s vision of becoming a knowledge-driven global leader by 2047,” he said.
During an interactive session with DYD students, Singh encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, commitment, and courage in their professional endeavors, stressing the importance of passion and purpose in career choices. Addressing queries on sustainable waste management, Singh highlighted Blue Planet’s cutting-edge solutions, including one of the world’s largest waste processing facilities in India, capable of handling 10,000 tonnes of waste per day.
Singh expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with the JU on mentorship, internships, placements, industry visits, and incubation projects. He also announced plans for an industry-aligned certificate course with the Department of Environmental Science and mentoring for startups.
Dr Guneet Singh Sudan, Director of CITES&M, presented the Centre’s IT initiatives, introducing the Corporate Lecture Series, with Singh’s session marking its inaugural event.
