JU protesting employees to start chain hunger strike from today

JAMMU, June 10: As the ongoing strike by Jammu University Non-Gazetted employees is going to enter into fifth phase with a chain hunger strike from tomorrow, the JU administration once again appealed the agitators to call off the protest as their main demand of regularization   of Casual Labourers was claimed to be pursued actively.
On 29th day of their strike, the protesting employees and Casual Labourers, who have also been joined by the Safai Karamcharis, held a protest demonstration on the campus and raised slogans against the JU authorities.
While addressing the protesters, president of Non-Gazetted Employees Union Krishan Chand announced fifth phase of the ongoing strike from tomorrow.
Five Class-IV employees, namely Suraj Parkash, Neelam Kumari, Banarsi Lal, Shamsher Bhagat and Bal Krishan will sit on chain hunger strike on Tuesday, informed Vijay Kumar, general secretary of NGEU.
Meanwhile, the JU administration once again appealed the protesting employees to call off their strike in the interest of the institution in general and students in particular.
In a handout, issued today, the JU administration claimed that maximum demands of the employees have already been conceded while the regularization of Casual Labourers was actively being pursued with the higher authorities.
