JU SC/ST employees apprise Registrar of their issues

JAMMU, May 7: Members of the Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association, led by their president R L Kaith, called on Registrar Dr Meenakshi Kilam and brought several issues pertaining to SCs, STs into her notice.
They strongly pressed for implementation of ‘Interim Order’ dated 18.03.2016, issued by the Supreme Court of India for considering eligible candidates for promotion to the next higher post.
The Association members urged the Registrar to effect necessary amendments in the University Act for statutory support for representation of SCs, STs in the competent bodies of the university.
The Association also demanded constitution of a ‘Standing Committee for SCs, STs’ as per the UGC instructions and allotment of space on the campus for establishing their Association’s office.
The Registrar assured that she would take up the matter with the Vice-Chancellor and try to have all their genuine issues resolved at the earliest.
The delegation comprised of Surjeet Singh Heer, Manzoor Mohd, Dharam Pal, B R Angural, Milkhi Ram Malhotra, Bikram Magotra, Sukhdev Bhagat, Kewal Krishan and others.
