JAMMU, Aug 30: During the Special Convocation, being organized by the Jammu University on September 16, 2014, Ph D Degrees and Gold Medals will be awarded to nearly 1100 students, who have passed their examinations during the year 2006-12.
Governor N N Vohra, who is Chancellor of the University, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is Pro-Chancellor of JU, will award the Degree and Medals to the students.
The University has initiated action to inform all the former students and making befitting arrangements for the Special Convocation, which will be held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium on September 16 at 10 am.
The Special Convocation is being organized within a fortnight of its 14th Convocation, scheduled to be held on September 1.
Since no convocation was held for the last seven years and it was not possible to distribute Degrees and Medals for all these years in a single Convocation, the University had requested the Chancellor for allowing it to hold a Special Convocation.
After permission of the Chancellor, who also consulted the Pro-Chancellor on the matter, the University decided to hold a Special Convocation.
