UDHAMPUR, Sept 3: Under mysterious circumstances, a Jammu University student today committed suicide by jumping from the house of her friend at Adarsh Colony, in front of JKNPP office Udhampur, Ward number 4.
The deceased was identified as Makhnu Devi, daughter of Munshi Ram of village Sayal Salan Udhampur. She was a PG student of Semester III in Dogri Department, Jammu University and had come to the house of the boy, who is a student of Economics, Semester I in JU.
The boy told the Police that after a brief talk with him, the girl went upstairs and jumped from the rooftop. She fell on the ground and was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her as brought dead.
Udhampur police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a middle aged man attempts suicide by hanging himself at his resident in village Ghordi.
The man, namely Shiv Kumar (42), son of Munshi Ram of Ghordi, was found hanging by other family members, who shifted him to hospital. Later, the man was further shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu.
Cause behind the provocation could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection.
