JAMMU, Apr 21: A delegation of Jammu University Students Association (JUSA), today called on Chairperson SSB, Sarita Chauhan and submitted a memorandum apprising her of various issues being faced by candidates appearing in examinations conducted by State Services Selection Board (SSB).
While interacting with the Chairperson, the students demanded that after the publication of advertisement of post, the recruitment process must be complete in a fixed time period. In the past it is seen that the selection process for some posts took even more than 2 to 3 years to complete, which is a grave injustice to the students, the delegation said.
The students also appealed the Chairperson to accept examination fee through online mode instead of accepting it through bank challan. When the whole of India is dreaming of ‘Digital India’, it becomes imperative for the JKSSB to accept examination fee through online mode apart from the provision of Bank challan, they added and explained that the students were facing a lot of inconvenience in submitting the fee through bank challans.
The students further asked the Chairperson to designate ‘Vacation Officers’ who may be assigned the task to listen the grievances of the candidate to avoid any last minute inconvenience. The students stated that as most of the examinations are conducted on a public holiday, if some issue arises to any candidate , a designated ‘vacation officer’; should be there who may resolve the issue or provide interim relief to the candidate.
While referring the decision taken by the Central Government to bring an end to the tradition of holding interviews for non Gazetted posts, the students demanded the Chairperson to recommend General Administration Department (GAD) to issue appropriate orders to cancel the requirement of holding interviews for Non Gazetted posts in the State.
Feeling apprehension of cancellation of the examination, scheduled to be conducted by JKSSB on 28th of this month , due to unrest in Kashmir, the students requested the Chairperson not to cancel the exam and hold it on due date only . The nationalist youth of Jammu have already suffered a lot and should not be made to pay further for the misdeeds of stone pelters and anti nationals in Kashmir, they said..
The chairperson gave students a patient hearing and appreciated them for making suggestion to the Board to make improvements in its functioning and assured them that due consideration would be given to the proposed suggestions.
The delegation comprised of Vishal Kotwal, Sunny Parihar, Vikas Bhadoria, Neeraj Singh Jasrotia, Chandan Kumar Sharma and others.
