JAMMU, Jan 6: University of Jammu will lock horns with BV Deemed University Pune in the finals of the ongoing All India Inter-University (Men and Women) Roll Ball Championship, being organized by JU’s Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at Skating Rink, MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the 1st semifinal match played in the evening session, BV Deemed University Pune beat University of Rajasthan by 15-02 goals, while in the 2nd semifinal University of Jammu defeated the Anna University by 11-1 goals.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam the Registrar, University of Jammu was chief guest of the matches played in the evening session.
In women section, in the 1st semifinal, BV Deemed University Pune beat University of Rajasthan by 5-4 goals, while in the 2nd semifinal, Punjab University Chandigarh beat Universiy of Jammu by 2-1 goals in a close contested match.
Tomorrow the hardliner and the final matches of men and women section will be played in the morning session and the closing ceremony cum prize distribution function will be held at 2:30 pm at Jammu University Sports Stadium.
Earlier, in the first session, the men and women teams of the University of Jammu sealed berth in the last four stage.
In the 1st Quarterfinal match of the men section, Anna University beat Punjab University Chandigarh by 8-2 goals, while in the 2nd Quarterfinal match of the men section, University of Jammu beat LPU Phagwara by 13-4 goals.
In the 3rd Quarterfinal match of the men section, University of Rajasthan defeated University of Kerala by 9-3 goals and in the 4th Quarterfinal match of the men section, BV Deemed University Pune thrashed MDU Rohtak by10-2 goals.
In the 1st Quarterfinal match of the women section, University of Rajasthan drubbed MDU Rohtak by 8-0 goals, while in the 2nd Quarterfinal, BV Deemed University Pune crushed Gandhigram University Tamil Nadu by 14-3 goals.
In another Quarterfinal match, University of Jammu got walkover and in the 4th Quarterfinal match of the women section, Punjab University Chandigarh got walkover to enter the semifinals.
Prof. Keshav Sharma, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who was introduced with the participating team players along with Prof Avtar S Jasrotia, Director Sports JU and Organizing Secretary of the tournament.
