JAMMU, Apr 29: Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma today chaired the meeting of all the Heads of the Departments and Deans for discussing various issues pertaining to the functioning of the University and also to evolve suitable proposal for achieving academic excellence.
Views were put forth by various HoDs and Deans regarding the issues pertaining to the teaching, introduction of vocational courses and assessment of employability potential of various professional courses. HoDs also raised the problem of meager financial support. The Vice Chancellor stressed that each department should apply to University Grants Commission (UGC) for grants under various programs like SAP etc. He advised that faculty members from all departments should send at least one research project for seeking funding. The emphasis should be on development of infrastructure in various departments so that their teaching programs can be more efficient, added Prof Sharma.
Besides others, Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Posh Charak, Dean Research Studies and Prof Manoj K Dhar, Registrar, also attended the meeting.
