JAMMU, Sept 27: Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, today released the prospectus for the Bachelor of Visual Arts 2023 program offered by the Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA) during a ceremony held at his office chamber.
In attendance were Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, the Principal of IMFA, Jammu, and Rakesh Sharma, Head of the Department of Fine Arts at IMFA, University of Jammu, along with other dedicated teaching faculty members.
Prof Rai praised the notable contributions of IMFA in the realm of visual art, particularly the modern and contemporary design of the Fine Arts prospectus. This visionary concept was formulated by Rakesh Sharma, HoD Fine Arts at IMFA, University of Jammu, with the valuable assistance of Vaneeka Gupta, a faculty member specializing in Applied Art at IMFA.
During the event, students participating in the ‘Design Your Degree’ program at the University of Jammu were encouraged to benefit from the diverse expertise of the Department of Visual Arts. They had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one interactions with specialized faculty members, who themselves are prominent artists in various artistic domains.
The emphasis of the program is on nurturing each student as an individual artist, urging them to cultivate their creative skills without being bound by preconceived notions or traditional pedagogical constraints.
Rakesh Sharma shed light on the essence of creativity, emphasizing that it allows individuals to create something remarkable from the simplest of beginnings.
Sharma further pointed out that the Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) program is open to anyone with a creative instinct who aspires to pursue a career in the field of visual arts. The course is designed to resonate with students’ aesthetic sensibilities, nurturing their imaginative faculties in a constructive manner.
Prof Shohab Malik informed students that a creative art workshop is scheduled to take place at IMFA in either October or the first week of November 2023.
Prominent faculty members of IMFA who were present at the event included Rohit Verma, Amarjeet Singh, Vaneeka Gupta, Rachita Dutta, and Palak Gandotra. This event marks an important step in fostering creative talent and artistic development within the academic community.
