JU Vice Chancellor inaugurates Intl Conference of CESI

JAMMU, Oct 10: The Annual International Conference of Comparative Society of India (CESI) 2012 got underway at Jammu University, here today.
Over 400 delegates from all over the country and abroad including the eminent educations in India in the field of education are attending this prestigious conference on the theme “Education for a changing World”. CESI is an Affiliate of the World Congress of Comparative Education Societies.
In his inaugural address Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that it is a proud moment for the University of Jammu that it is hosting such an important conference on a very important and relevant theme, adding that it was equally prestigious for the University of Jammu that such prominent Indian educationists have converged here for this three day international conference.
Prof Ishar further said in the changing global scenario, the role of educationists is very important and the preparation and education of teachers continues to be one of the most crucial aspects of any education system.
Hoping that the educationists will deliberate on all important themes and the delegates would be enriched by the deliberations, Ishar said the key findings of the conference will go a long way in understanding all important issues in the field of comparative education.
In his presidential address, Professor Jandhyala B. G. Tilak, President CESI, said that in the past few years there has been a remarkable expansion of higher education but much of the expansion is in private sector.
Prof Tilak made a detailed comparative study of the higher education systems of India, China, Brazil and Russia.
Prof Prabhat Patanaik, eminent Marxist economist Capitalism of international repute, JNU, delivered keynote address.
Earlier, Prof Rekha Chaudhary, Dean Research Studies delivered her welcome address.
Prof S Srinivasa Rao, JNU, New Delhi also spoke on the occasion.
Prof Geetha B Nambissan, JNU, New Delhi, presented the whole three days conference schedule to the audience. Prof Amman Madan read out the themes.
Professor Renu Nanda, organising secetary of CESI-2012 who is also professor in the Department of Education, University of Jammu, presented formal vote of thanks.
Those who were present at the occasion included Prof G M Bhat, Head, Dept of Geology, Prof Ashok Aima, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector, Kathua Campus, Prof N K Tripathi , Dean Students Welfare among others.
It is pertinent to mention here that eminent names in the field of education including Prof Govinda, Vice Chancellor, NUPEA, Prof Anita Rampal, Prof Karuna Chanana and a galaxy of academicians and intellectuals are attending this conference.
