Judge begins cycle trip against transfer

NEEMUCH (MP), Aug 19:  An additional district judge, who is under suspension, today commenced a bicycle yatra christened ‘Nyay Yatra’ from the District Court and began pedalling towards the High Court’s Principal Seat in Jabalpur more than 700 km away.
R K Shrivas, who is miffed over being transferred four times within a period of approximately one-and-a-half years, staged a sit-in before the High Court early this month and was consequently suspended after being reassigned here. At that juncture, he announced the yatra.
“Subsequent to reaching Jabalpur, I shall again place my side of the matter in front of senior officials. If due cognisance is not taken of my words, then I will approach Supreme Court officers,” he said.  The judge’s nine-point charter of demands includes bringing in transparency vis-a-vis confidential reports.
