SRINAGAR: The judicial custody of moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) chairman Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq, who was arrested and lodged in sub-jail Cheshmashahi on August 14, has been extended to October 31.
HC spokesperson Shahid-ul-Islam today said the custody of Mirwaiz has again been extended till October 31. He said the Mirwaiz was being put under ‘solitary confinement’ at the sub-jail in Cheshmashahi in Srinagar.
Mirwaiz, who was kept under house arrest since July 9 in view of the unrest triggered by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani and two other militants in an encounter in Anantnag, was detained on August 14. (AGENCIES)
