CJ seeks report from PDJ Jammu

JAMMU, July 8: Agitated over alleged misbehavior with a Judicial Officer by the Police officials, Judicial Employees in Jammu, Udhampur and other areas suspended work and held peaceful protest demonstrations demanding stern action against the erring cops.
All members of Judicial Employees Welfare Association assembled in court complex, Janipur Jammu and held a strong but peaceful protest against high handedness of Police officers. They raised slogans demanding stern action against the erring Police officer who allegedly misbehaved with Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammed Rafiq Chak, when he was on way to his office.

In Udhampur, members of Jammu and Kashmir Judicial Employees Association also suspended work in all the courts and held a strong protest demonstration at court complex. Addressing the protest demonstration, senior JEWA leader Ranjit Parihar alleged that erring Police officer misbehaved with Judicial Officer and even threatened to lodge FIR against him even after the latter showed his identity card. He demanded action against the Police officer responsible for harassing the Judicial officer so that dignity of officer and institution could be maintained.
Protesting employees appealed Chief Justice J&K High Court and Director General Police to initiate inquiry and action against such officer as earlier as possible so that faith of common man could be restored .
Udhampur Bar Association also suspended work today to register its r protest against the incident. The Bar held an emergent meeting under president Jaidev Singh Slathia and passed a resolution demanding action against erring police officer who misbehaved with Judicial officer.
The Bar also submitted copy of the resolution to Chief Justice High Court seeking action in this regard so that dignity of institution could be maintained and no one in future can dare to act like this.
J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu also held an emergent meeting of its Executive Committee, under the chairmanship of president Abhinav Sharma and took a strong exception of the alleged misbehavior of Police officials with the Judicial Officer.
The Bar Association decided to take up the matter with the Chief Justice for necessary action in this regard and announced that the Executive Committee would meet again tomorrow for deciding next course of action.
Executive Committee of District Bar Association Kathua also held a meeting under the chairmanship of Ajat Shatru Sharma, president District Bar Association Kathua and condemned the misbehavior of Police Officials with Chief Judicial Magistrate, Udhampur.
The Bar members appealed to the Chief Justice of J&K High Court to intervene in the matter and ensure stern against the Police officials involved in the unwarranted act. They also announced to follow the action taken by J&K High Court Bar Association on the entire episode.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Gita Mital has sought report from Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu about the incident.
