JAMMU, Feb 11: A delegation of Judicial Employees Welfare Association headed by its State president Ajaz Ahmed Wafai today called on Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice N Paul Vasantha Kumar and brought to his notice inordinate delay in implementation of Shetty Commission recommendations in the light of the Supreme Court judgment.
The Supreme Court had directed that High Court should see that the recommendations of the Shetty Commission in respect of judicial employees are implemented. However, the directives of the Apex Court with regard to providing benefit of Shetty Commission recommendations to the judicial employees have not been implemented till date despite repeated communications from the High Court to the Department of Law.
Besides demanding implementation of Apex Court order to provide benefit of Shetty Commission recommendations to the judicial employees, the delegation also highlighted other demands, which include creation of staff in the newly created eight districts of the State on the pattern of Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar/ Jammu, promotion of eligible aspirants, creation of welfare fund, removal of deficiency of staff in the existing courts, reservation policy and weeding of records.
Chief Justice gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation that all the issues will be looked into and favorably resolved within a short span of time.
The delegation comprised of Pandit Illyas, provincial president Kashmir, Mangat Ram Parihar, provincial president Jammu, Iftakar Hussain Dar, district president Srinagar, Omeshwar Singh Jamwal, district president Jammu and Sudershan Singh, provincial secretary Jammu.
