JAMMU, Dec 2: The Judicial Employees Welfare Association (JEWA) today appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to implement Shetty Commission report which employees are waiting since 2009 despite Supreme Court direction. The Association warned the Government of strong agitation if their genuine demands were not met with shortly.
The Association meeting, which held here at Jammu under the chairmanship of provincial president, Mangat Ram Parihar, expressed deep concern about the non-implementation of Shetty Commission Report. The employees threatened to resort to an indefinite strike if the State Governmnt failed to address their demands.
Provincial JEWA president was critical of the State Government for its failure to implement the Shetty Commission report, despite the Apex Court directions. He said that State Government adhering to Supreme Court directions formally issued SRO regarding implementation of Shetty and Padmanabhan Commissions for the benefit judicial officers of the State whereas non gazetted judicial employees were left in a lurch which is concern for majority section of employees who are already facing inflation.
He added that despite recommendations made by the Shetty Commission and also orders passed by the Supreme Court for improving working conditions of the supporting staff with the judges who remain unsung heroes as they work overtime and handle too much workload, State Government never gets attention when it comes to the grant of financial and other benefits to employees .
He said that Punjab, Haryana and other States have already implemented the Shetty Commission Report but J&K is putting judicial employees in the dock. He appealed the Chief Justice of the State High Court to intervene and get their demands accepted by the Government.
