SRINAGAR, Mar 18: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today assured that a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the mysterious deaths of two tribal men, who were among the three individuals reported missing from Kulgam district last month.

The Deputy CM made these remarks while visiting the grieving families at Chandian Pajan in the Qazigund area of south Kashmir. He was accompanied by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and Minister of School/Higher Education, Health and Medical Education and Social Welfare Welfare Sakeena Itoo.
Chowdhary assured the families that justice would be served. “The children who have died cannot be brought back, but we assure you that a judicial inquiry will be conducted. Without specifying the amount, we will provide financial aid to the affected families and engage the widowed women as helpers,” he said.
He further emphasized that the Government would extend all possible assistance to the bereaved families. “We have been sent by the CM with sincerity and compassion. We are not here for politics, nor is this a time to seek votes. Our purpose is to console the grieving family. We will submit a report to the Chief Minister, and whatever help is possible from the Government will be provided,” he added.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani described the incident as devastating for the families and stressed the need for a thorough investigation. “We are here to stand with the family in their time of sorrow. One family has lost two children, and we have come to express our sympathy. It is crucial to uncover the complete truth behind this incident. We have already urged the Lieutenant Governor and the administration to conduct a thorough investigation. A disturbing pattern is emerging-first, the children go missing, and then their bodies are found,” he said.
He added that while no conclusions can be drawn yet, a transparent probe is necessary. “Whether it was an accident or a conspiracy, everything must be investigated. The family’s primary demand is to know the truth about what happened to their children. They had gone to attend a wedding and then disappeared. Their families deserve to know the circumstances that led to their tragic deaths,” he said.
