Judicious use of drinking water

Sir,
We all are well aware that water is one of the most essential natural resources for existence of life on this earth. It is apprehended that owing to depleting water table and over drawal there may be a world war for drinking water after few decades. In light of this contention it becomes  our responsibility to conserve drinking water and use it judiciously. But unfortunately rampant wastage of drinking water is witnessed in some areas. At places, main water supply pipes are found punctured perhaps by slum dwellers spread over the entire Jammu and its adjoining new colonies.
Thus,  a huge quantity of water is wasted due to improper monitoring by the concerned authorities. The water from these leaking pipes keeps on flowing which causes not only inconvenience to the general public but damages the roads. Such leakages are mostly witnessed in areas where cluster of jhuggies are found. So, these check-points/leakage points need regular and consistent monitoring by the concerned authorities so that huge quantity of water is saved. In addition to this, few people have managed more than one water connections to get water from two different sources as an alternative so as to avoid water scarcity even during crisis.
This practice need to be curbed. Some  vehicle workshops running service stations also indulge in wasting of clean drinking water. It is high time that awareness about judicious use of water is needed in this  direction.
The concerned authorities must opt for creating awareness to ensure reducing wastage of clean drinking water  otherwise crisis of drinking water as is experienced in cities like Shillong and Chennai. We must not wait  till alarming situation may arise.
Yours etc….
