JAMMU, Sept 20: BJP State President & MLA from Nagrota Assembly Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma distributed 57 cheques with total amount of Rs. 28 lakh from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) on the pattern of IAY scheme in a programme organized at Dansal block headquarters in presence of BDO Ishtiaq Ahmed, Sarpanchs and Panchs namely Mohan Lal Mengi, Parkash Singh, Balwan Singh and Sadiq Ahmed.
These cheques were distributed among the BPL families for repair of damaged houses and construction of new ones. Rs. 24000 was given as first installment and the remaining is to be distributed in due course of time.
Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, said that the Nargota Constituency houses a large population of such people who are very poor and identified under BPL category. In these days of price rise these pepole cannot arrange even 2-time meal for their families and manage other minimum needs. None of them can dream of constructing a new house or furnish it with comfortable gadgets.
He said that the recent rains have caused damages to the houses of these people and they were living under open skies for many days. Some of the houses even got totally dashed to the ground. He said that the poor people are given cheques so that they can repair the damaged houses or construct the new ones.
He asked the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds distributed among them and pay attention on the material quality.
BJP leaders including Nand Kishore Sharma, Vijay Kumar Sharma, Uttam Singh, Puran Singh, Karan Dutt, Narayan Dutt, Satish Sharma and Tarsem Singh were present on the occasion.
