BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma during a ‘Sikh Sammelan’ at Trikuta Nagar in Jammu on Friday.

JAMMU, Apr 19: Bhartiya Janta Party State President, Jugal Kishore Sharma today said that the PoK refugees have suffered a lot during the last over six decades and the successive Governments in the State did not deem it necessary to mitigate their sufferings and fulfill their genuine demands.
While addressing a “Sikh Sammelan” at Trikuta Nagar in Jammu, Sharma said that it is indeed unfortunate that sikh families in thousands opted to get settled in Jammu and Kashmir after their migration from PoK and were given false assurances of proper rehabilitation and dignified life by the successive Governments in the State.
He said that almost three generations of them have perished while raising their voice but no one paid any attention and the regional political parties like NC and PDP simply approached them during elections.
The MLA further said that the BJP has all along been highlighting the grievances of the PoK refugees not only in the State but at the national level as well.
BJP State Working Committee Member S Amrik Singh said that the party at its National Working Committee Meet has adopted resolution in favour of PoK refugees and those of 1965 and 1971 and it is now sure that the issue will be taken up in the Parliament session.
A siropa was presented to Jugal Kishore Sharma and a large number of youth also joined BJP on the occasion.
The sammelan was organised by BJP State Working Committee Member S Amrik Singh, who was assisted by another member of State Working Committee Ramneek Gupta.
