JAMMU, Oct 7: Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma today laid foundation stone of four roads of worth 21 crore in Akhnoor Constituency along with MLA Akhnoor Rajiv Sharma.
The 10-kilometer road from Sumah to Bandral Kalan which was thrown open to public has been constructed under PMGSY at a cost of Rs. 3.46 crore and will connect about half a dozen villages. Similarly, the  Mawa Brahmana road of which the foundation stone was laid will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 10.44 crore under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana and will link eight villages with the main Akhnoor road.
Later they visited Chowki Choura hilly area of Akhnoor Consituency. In Kanehri they laid foundation stone of road from Kanehri to Ghar Majoor which will be constructed at the cost 3.75 crore and Chagiyal to Kathar via Keour which will be constructed at the cost of Rs 3.67 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Member Parliament said that Central and State Governments are committed to strengthen the road connectivity which is key to socio-economic development. He said Central Government has been so liberal in providing free flow of funds for the development of Jammu and Kashmir thereby fulfilling the slogans of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas. He asked the people to maintain close coordination with the administration to avail benefits of numerous developmental programmes launched by the Government. He asked the engineers to focus on quality of work strictly as per the specifications laid down by the Government.
He maintained that the Jammu and Kashmir has devised a comprehensive programme for the overall development of every nook and corner of the State. He said the BJP-PDP Government has given priority to road sector which was in bad shape  during the past over seven decades and people will see substantial change on ground during next couple of months. He said the present government will fulfill the aspirations of all sections of the society as per the commitment made during the elections.
Among those present on the occasion included, Manmohan Singh, Captain (retd) Sobha Ram, Manga Ram, Madan Lal, Sardari Lal, B D Sharma, Rohit Sharma,  Bawa Parshotam, Manga Ram, Anchal Singh, Rakesh Sharma, sectoral officers of different departments and engineers of PMGSY.
