JAMMU, Oct 5: BJP State President & MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, along with National Executive Member Shamsher Singh Manhas, State vice-president Col. (retd) Uttam Singh, State spokesperson Farooq Khan, district president Daljit Singh and over a dozen other leaders, visited flood affected areas of Akhnoor, Jourian and Khour for personal review of the post flood situation and enquire about the relief and rehabilitation measures taken so far by the local Administration.
They also visited the villages situated on the banks of river Chenab, where agricultural land too have been washed away.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while extending Party’s full sympathies to the affected families, said that the natural calamity has caused immense damages and destruction. People have suffered losses of their houses, crops, livestock. road connectivity has suffered, bridges got washed away and there is immediate need of taking the rehabilitation on war footing.
He said that while the Narendra Modi Government has flown quick relief and assured of every needed help for the rehabilitation of the affected families, the people have anger and resentment against the local administration for not doing enough in distributing relief and reaching the genuinely affected families for their rehabilitation.
He assured them that being elected representative, he will take up their grievances with the concerned authorities to ensure that no one is deprived of relief and each affected family is rehabilitated.
Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the BJP leaders have been visiting every affected area not only in Jammu province but in Kashmir also, as for our Party all the regions are equal. He said our activists have been making all out efforts across the country to collect ration items, blankets, tents, medicines etc and the same have been distributed in Kashmir as well as in Jammu.
He said that the Party at the National level and in the State stands with the affected families and hoped that the life in the affected areas will soon come on rails.
Col. Uttam Singh said that the losses and damages cause should be assessed immediately and the claims be given to the people who have suffered on account of rains and resultant floods.
Farooq Khan said that although we can not bring back the precious lives but each one of us should be at the back of the bereaved families so that they do not feel alone or isolated in this hour of grief and sorrow.
