JAMMU, May 30: BJP State President & MP (Lok Sabha) Jugal Kishore Sharma, while addressing massive public rallies being organized at Vijaypur and other adjoining areas to express thanks and gratitude for their support in favour of BJP as a result of which he scored a massive victory over Congress and NC candidate, expressed shock and dismay over senior Congress leader Dr. Karan Singh’s outrageous statement equating the duly-acceded J&K to India with Hong Kong, described his statement as most unfortunate, dangerous and unwarranted.
“Dr. Karan Singh has only negated the splendid contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh to the State’s accession with India by making such ridiculous statement”, he said, adding that the former Sadar-e-Riyasat has shocked the people of the State and the country as a whole. Jammu and Kashmir is neither Hong Kong nor Trieste and Aaland Islands. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and it will be treated at par with other states of the Union, BJP State President said.
Denouncing the statement of NC that Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee was anti-India, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that J&K is within India only because of the supreme sacrifice that he made in the State itself to integrate it with India and enabled the people of the state to visit any part of the country and the vice-versa. “It was Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee whose sacrifice on June 23, 1953, led to the revocation of the atrocious permit system”. He took up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir in a big way after the formation of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1952 and had advocated the need to establish closer ties between the state and Delhi in the Indian Constituent Assembly. He did sign the Indian Constitution keeping into consideration the purely temporary nature of Article 306-A (370).
Jugal Kishore Sharma warned the desperate and defeated Congress and the NC not to mislead the people through their devious and hate and break India campaign. He said it is time for them to learn lesson from the recent humiliating defeat and work for the promotion of mainstream politics in the Valley so that the people of the state enjoy the fruits of Indian democracy.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that it was not the victory of BJP only but the victory of the people who were fed up with the pseudo secular discriminatory policies of the coalition partners.
