JAMMU, Dec 9: For the smooth functioning of the organisation, new team of the Jammu University Research Scholars Association (JURSA) was elected here today.
The event saw participation from around 100 scholars, who showed great enthusiasm and unity in electing the office bearers.
The elections were conducted with full majority and consensus, marking a significant step towards strengthening the voice of research scholars.
The new team elected included Anirudh Raina as President, Gagandeep Singh Sasan and Divyam Kalsotra as Vice Presidents.
The General Secretaries representing various streams include Anjum Imtiaz (Biotechnology), Tahir Shakeel (Sociology), Manik Sharma (Economics), Mukhtar (Botany), Ankush Sharma (DSRS), Suhail Ahmad (Remote Sensing) and Sumeet Kumar (Law Department).
Additionally, Amir Malik from the Department of Management was appointed to handle Public Relations.
In his presidential address, Anirudh Raina highlighted the pressing issues faced by research scholars and called for immediate attention to bridge the gap between university authorities and scholars.
He noted that while unions exist for faculty and non-teaching staff, no student elections have been held since 2017, leaving research scholars without an organized platform.
Raina assured the gathering of his commitment to addressing their concerns with sincerity and urged all scholars to actively participate in strengthening JURSA’s efforts.
The event marked a pivotal moment for research scholars, reflecting their unity and determination to ensure their voices are heard and their issues are resolved effectively.
