KARGIL, Aug 9: Justice Bansi Lal (BL) Bhat (Retired), Chairman of the Reservation Commission for Actual Line of Control (ALC) Ladakh, visited several remote villages in Kargil near the Line of Control (LoC) including Garkone, Darchik, Sanachay, Hordass, Gurgurdo, Batalik, Silmo, Chulichan, and Lalung.
As per a statement, his visit aimed to assess basic facilities and interact with local residents.
During the visit, Justice Bhat emphasized the importance of the Indian Constitution and its role in advancing social justice.
He underscored the necessity of ensuring that all residents, particularly those in remote areas, benefit from the nation’s progress and welfare initiatives.
He noted that justice and inclusivity are central to the ethos of the Indian Constitution and highlighted the impact of reservation policies in promoting equitable development.
Local residents expressed their frustrations over longstanding neglect and the lack of development in their areas.
They highlighted issues such as inadequate educational and economic resources, which have adversely affected the future prospects of the youth.
They also voiced concerns about being overlooked in the reservation process, noting that similar benefits have been extended to residents in other areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Accompanying Justice Bhat were former CEC LAHDC Kargil/Councillor Silmo Feroz Khan, ADC Suhail Ahmad, Tsering Mutup (Additional Secretary to ALC Commission), Hamid Ahmad (Private Secretary to Chairman for ALC), and Naib Tehsildars Sajjad Hussain and Mohammad Ibrahim.
