Justice done

Sir,
The Law has done its job,so has the various social and women’s groups by ensuring that the culprits involved in the much publicised Delhi rape case involving the medical students Nirbahya are brought to book. Though it took almost 10 months to Fast Track Court to deliver the verdict, the Justice was meted out to victim and her family. Now the question arises-Is the law always a cure for such horrendous acts? Perhaps no.
The remedy lies in the mindset of society members towards female folk. Indian society even after so much of education, modernity and scentific attitude is still seeped in bias against girl child. The recent trends which show a steep decline in sex ratio lend credence to the fact that the girl child is not preferred over male child or treated at par with him.
Then there is media influence which projects women as sexual objects and nothing else. This perverted mentality has debased her in the eyes of males. With the result, violence against women is on the rise. Unless we change our mentality towards women folk, Delhi rape like incidents would continue to occur even in presence of stringent laws to deal with these issues.
Yours etc…..
