Justice finally done: Farooq

MUMBAI, Nov 21:
Union Minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah today welcomed the decision of hanging 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab.
“I think it is justice done long time the nation wanted. Finally the man who had entered our country and killed so many innocent people has been hanged. I am glad the President refused clemency and finally he was hanged this morning,” Abdullah said.
He was here for BCCI meeting.
“I am sure many of those whose relatives had died, they must be at ease today. I think our justice system is such that it takes time, but the justice is finally done. You should be happy. He was given all the opportunities and justice was finally done,” the Minister added.
On the fate of 2001 Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru, he said the demand is with the President. It will take some time.
Meanwhile, the Centre and the Maharashtra Government were today praised by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for successfully keeping under wraps the hanging of Lashker-e-Taiba terrorist Ajmal Kasab.
In his tweet, Omar did not refrain from taking a jibe at the news television channels about the claims made for breaking the news about Kasab’s hanging.
“Gotta hand it to the Governments at the Centre and in Mumbai for the mature way they handled this. Shows we can still keep a secret if we need to,” Omar commented on the microblogging site.
In his comment about the media, Omar said, “Now we’ll watch all the channels line up to claim that they were the ones to break the news of the hanging.”
Omar also questioned the American media for describing Kasab as “gunman”. “So Hamas are terrorists but Kasab was a gunman. Well done American media you really call it like it is,” he said sarcastically. (PTI)
