JAMMU, Aug 14: Under the guidance and instructions of Justice N. Paul Vasantha Kumar, Chief  Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir (Chief Patron, State Judicial Academy) and Committee of Judges, (comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Member and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Member) State Judicial Academy today organized oath ceremony and lecture on ‘Professional Ethics and Conduct’ for newly enrolled Advocates of Jammu province at State Judicial Academy complex here.
Proceedings were conducted by Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy who welcomed Justice Janak Raj Kotwal and Advocates and introduced the need for oath ceremony and lectures for the advocates.
Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Member Committee, State Judicial Academy administered oath to the Advocates. As many as 124 Advocates subscribed to the oath and received absolute Advocates’ licenses after the oath ceremony.
The oath ceremony was followed by lecture on the “Professional Ethics” delivered Justice Janak Raj Kotwal. He stressed upon the newly enrolled Advocates to adhere to the ethics and conduct rules framed by Bar Council of India. He further said that the young advocates are not only the future of justice delivery system but also future of country as many of them may reach the highest constitutional positions.
However, freshers in the legal fraternity have to work hard with honesty, devotion and dedication for the cause of justice and society. He asked the new entrants in the legal fraternity to perform their duties towards the court, litigant public in particular and the society in general. He stressed that they have to equip themselves with the various provisions of law to excel in the profession.
