*1,25,312 cases resolved, Rs 207.65 crore settled

JAMMU, May 14: Justice U. U. Lalit, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman, NALSA, who was in Srinagar in connection with the foundation stone laying of the New High Court building, inaugurated the National Lok Adalat in District Court Complex Srinagar in presence of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority.
Justice Lalit visited the Bench No. 1 dealing with MACT cases and in his presence few cases were settled including the one injury case where the victim of the accident is in coma for the last five years due to head injury. With the cooperation of the counsel for the claimants and Shriram General Insurance Company and with the intervention of the bench an amount of Rs. 1.2 crores was settled as compensation and the cheques were disbursed to the claimants on spot.
Justice Lalit also visited the bench dealing with matrimonial cases. The bench informed the dignitaries that in two cases where the parties were living apart for quite some time were persuaded to enter into compromise and they left the court together alongwith their kids for a fresh start of cordial matrimonial life.
Justice Lalit during interaction with the participants complimented the role of Judicial Officers, Advocates, Insurance Companies and Banks for their pragmatic approach in settlement of cases through LokAdalat. He said that settlement through LokAdalat not only offers a way for the parties to settle their disputes according to their choice, which is speedy and cost effective but also blocks the pre-litigation matters from maturing into litigation. He further said that in order to have maximum response and settlements between the parties in cases like MACT, matrimonial, cheque bounce cases under NI Act, Money recovery cases, etc., pre-lokadalat sittings or pre-counselling sessions should be held regularly well before the date of National Lok Adalat so that parties may get one or more chances for entering into negotiation/dialogue with the opposite parties.
J&K Legal Services Authority and Ladakh Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalat throughout the UTs of J&K and Ladakh. As per the information received from the districts, out of a total number of 1,48,293 cases taken up by 155 Benches in the day long National Lok Adalat at various courts across the UT of J&K, 1,24,840 cases were disposed of and an amount of Rs. 2,06,64,19,877 was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in civil, criminal, labour disputes, Land Acquisition, Family matters, cheque dishonor and Bank Recovery cases. Likewise in Ladakh a total of 546Cases were taken up by 10benches and 472cases were disposed of and an amount of Rs. 1,00,68,901/- was awarded as compensation/settlement amount in civil, criminal, labour disputes, Electricity and Water Bills cases, Land Acquisition, Family matters, cheque dishonor and Bank Recovery cases.
Member Secretary, J&K and Ladakh Legal Services Authorities, MK Sharma, thanked all the participants including the Judicial Officers, Secretaries DLSA’s, Advocates, representatives of insurance companies & banks, staff of the courts & Legal Services Institutions & litigants for their realistic approach in settlement of cases in such a large number.
JAMMU: A National Lok Adalat was held today under the command of Patron-in-Chief State Legal Services Authority Justice Pankaj Mithal Chief Justice J&K and Ladakh High Court and under the guidance of Executive Chairman of State Legal Service Authority, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey in District Court Complex, Jammu and in the adjoining courts under the jurisdiction of District Court Jammu.
A total 26,540 cases of different nature were taken up of which 24,982 cases were settled on the spot. An amount of Rs 1,52,56,50,078 was also settled. A total 22 Benches were constituted for this Lok Adalat.
At the end, Chairman and Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu Sanjay Parihar and Yahaya Firdous briefed the media persons and highlighted the achievements of this National Lok Adalat.
The Secretary while briefing the media persons informed that the pre Lok Adalat benches for this National Lok Adalat were constituted on 19th of April 2022 which were 22 in number.
UDHAMPUR: A National Lok Adalat was held here today under the chairmanship of Yash Paul Bourney (Principal District and Sessions Judge Udhampur) and under the overall supervision of Sub Judge Rajni Sharma Secretary District Legal Services Authority Udhampur regarding different kind of cases in the Court complex Udhampur. A total of 5 benches were constituted in the District. Bench No 1 comprised of Yash Paul Bourney (Principal District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur), Suresh Chander Katal (Additional District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur) and Advocate PK Jandial, Bench No 2 comprised of BA Munshi (CJM Udhampur), Shafeeq Ahmed (District Judicial Mobile Magistrate), Udhampur, JD Slathia Bar President, Bench No 3 comprised of Preet Simran Kour (Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur), Maleeka Sharma (Munsiff JMIC), Vijay Lakshmi Advocate, Bench No 4 comprised of Sub Judge Smriti Sharma Chairman TLSC Ramnagar, Sudesh Kumar Gupta (Lawyer) TLSC Ramnagar, Bench Number 5 comprised of Madhu Sharma (Munsiff JMIC Majalta), Davinder Kumar. A total of 1248 cases pertaining to different nature were taken up, out of which 1010 cases were settled. The total amount recovered is Rs 10291749.
KATHUA: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kathua organised 2nd National Lok Adalat at ADR Centre of District Court Complex, here today.

During the day long National Lok Adalat, five benches were constituted at District Court Complex Kathua and four benches were constituted in Tehsil Courts at Basohli, Billawar, Hiranagar & Bani respectively.
Bench No. 1 comprised of Jaffer Hussain Beg, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kathua (Principle District and Sessions Judge Kathua) and Special Mobile Magistrate Kathua Anjana Rajput, Bench No. 2 comprised of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua Sandeep Kour, & JMIC Kathua, Cheena Sumbria, Bench No. 3 comprised of District Mobile Magistrate, Brij Raj Singh, & ARTO Neeraj Kumar Sharma, Bench No. 4 comprised of District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Raheem & Tehsildar Vikram Kumar. Bench No. 5 comprised of Tehsildar Vikram Kumar & Assistant Director Fisheries Pawan Kumar.
The Basohli bench comprised of JMIC Basohli Jeevan Kumar Sharma, & Bar President Basohli Shub Kumar.
At Billawar, the bench comprised of Additional Spl. Mobile Magistrate Rohit Sharma & JMIC Shabnam Sheikh.
The Bench at Hiranagar consisted of JMIC Rajni Bhagat & Bar President Hiranagar Thakur Ranjit Singh.
The Bani bench comprised of JMIC, Ahtzaz Ahmed, Tehsildar Suresh Kumar and S.H.O Shahnawaz.
A total of 1598 cases were taken up in the National Lok Adalat by the constituted benches, out of which 1288 cases were disposed ofer settled. Meanwhile, 4585 Miscleasnour cases received from different departments were also settled in the National Lok Adalat.
The compensation worth Rs 6025000 was awarded in the MACT cases, an amount of Rs. 1000000 was recovered from labour disputes, a recovered of Rs. 10,400 was realised from electricity bills, an amount of Rs. 149391 was realised from water bills, a fine of Rs. 20650 was realised on spot from Criminal Compound cases, a recovery of Rs. 2934746 was also made in favour of the Banks and a fine of Rs. 1144400 was realized.
A total amount of Rs.11285187 was realised on the spot.
DODA: National Lok Adalat was held today at District Court Complex, here under the supervision of Sunit Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Doda.
Two benches, one headed by Sunit Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge and assisted by Neena Thakur, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate while other bench headed by Prem Sagar, Chief Judicial Magistrate and assisted by Sheikh Babar Hussain, District Mobile Magistrate (T) were constituted.
The bench headed settled 5 MACT cases with an award of amount of Rs 25,70,000 and 8 Civil and Bank Recovery cases with one time settlement amount of Rs 13,13,000. The second bench Prem Sagar, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Doda decided 443 cases and realized compounded money of Rs13,10,600.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority here today organized National Lok Adalat. Five Benches were constituted for settling the referred cases. The Bench No.1 consisted of RN Watal, Principal District and Sessions Judge Reasi, Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Reasi and Advocate K.K. Dubey, Bench No 2 consisted of Sudesh Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate (Sub-Judge), Reasi, Arti Devi, Munsiff , Reasi and Advocate RK Sharma; Bench No. 3 consisted of Priyanka Mahajan, Additional Mobile Magistrate and Advocates Rashi Baru and Shazia Punjabi; Bench No 4 comprised of Manoj Kumar Parihar, Sub Judge, Katra, Sandeep Sen, Munsiff, Katra and Advocate Akhil Prashar, President Bar Association, Katra and Bench No 5 consisted of Mahavir Singh, Munsiff, Mahore, Advocate Abdul Gani Bhatt, President Bar Association, Mahore and Advocate SS Sahni, Tehsil, Mahore.
A total of 1974 cases were taken up for amicable settlement out of which 1818 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 1,46,39,414 was realized as settlement amount.
RAMBAN: District Legal Services Authority Ramban under the guidance and chairmanship of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Haq Nawaz Zargar who is also the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ramban, organized National Lok Adalat. A total 1914 cases of different nature were taken up out of which 1310 cases were settled with awarding of a settlement amount of Rs 6605000 in MACT Cases and recovering Rs 207850 as compounding fine in other cases. The bank recovery cases payment of Rs 601000 was agreed upon, while Rs 858500 was awarded in pre litigation and other cases.
Five benches were constituted for settling the referred cases.
The first bench was presided over by the Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Ramban who was assisted by the Additional District and Session Judge Fast Track Court, Surinder Singh; the 2nd bench was presided over by I/C CJM (Sub Judge) Ramban, Romesh Lal who was assisted by Munsiff JMIC Ramban Arusa Choudhary, while 3rd, 4th and 5th, benches were constituted at Batote, Banihal and Ukhral.
BUDGAM: Second National Lok Adalat was today organized here which was inaugurated by Chairman District Legal Services Authority Budgam, Mohammad Ashraf Malik at District Court Complex. Court had identified cases for the Lok Adalat beforehand and the same were placed before eight different benches constituted by DLSA Budgam for settlement in National Lok Adalat.
A total number of 25,000 pre litigation matters were taken up amongst which 18,853 number of pre litigation matters were settled. Moreover, an amount of Rs. 6.45 crore has been realized in pre litigations matters. Also, 342 post litigation matters were taken up for their amicable settlement out of which 159 number of matters were settled. Besides, 25567 matters were taken up for their amicable settlement, out of which 19012 matters were settled. Besides, an amount of Rs. 7.67 crore was realized in toto in the settlement.
BARAMULLA: The District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) Baramulla today organized National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex, here under the supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla Mohammad Yousuf Wani. On the occasion, 12 benches were constituted across the district during which 2802 cases of different natures were taken up, out of which more than 1900 cases were settled amicably on spot. About Rs 1.03 crore was also realized as the settlement amount for the said cases. Meanwhile, similar Lok Adalats were also held at Sopore, Pattan, Uri, Rafiabad and Tangmarg during which cases with different natures were taken up for on spot settlement besides a large number of money was realized as the settlement amount.
KULGAM: A National Lok Adalat was held today in District Court Complex here, under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Kulgam, Tahir Khurshid Raina (Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kulgam). Five benches were constituted, four at headquarter and one each at DH Pora and Qazigund. In the said National Lok Adalat, 4406 cases of different nature were taken up, out of which 3392 cases were amicably settled. An amount of Rs1, 38,34,641 was realized in different cases.
SHOPIAN: National Lok Adalat was conducted at District Court Complex, here, under the chairmanship of Riyaz-Ul-Haq Mirza, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal & Session Judge), Shopian. Four Benches were constituted by the DLSA. Total of 468 cases related to MACT, recovery suits, traffic challans, civil cases, matrimonial cases and criminal compoundable cases were taken up, out of which 351 cases were settled amicably with a settlement amount of Rs 41,01,600.
ANANTNAG: National Lok-Adalat was today organized in District Court and other sub-ordinate courts of District Anantnag under the chairmanship of PDJ Anantnag, Naseer Ahmad Dar. A total of 11,381 cases were taken up by 7 benches in the district out of which 10,257cases were settled. An amount of Rupees Twenty one Crore Eighteen lacs Eleven Thousand Three Hundred and Seventy Nine was awarded or decreed in Bank recovery cases, including Rs 46.95 lakh awarded in sixteen MACT cases.
PULWAMA: Second National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Abdul Rashid Malik, Chairman District Legal Service Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Pulwama. The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Chairman District Legal Service Authority Pulwama in presence of all Judicial officers posted at Pulwama headquarter & bar members. Total nine benches were constituted out of which four benches were constituted for holding of National Lok Adalat at District headquarters and three benches at Tehsil Levels of the District Pulwama. A total of 8250 pre litigation matters were taken up amongst which 7850 number of pre litigation matters pertaining to far-flung rural areas including Rajpora, Tral Pampore, were settled. Total 1202 cases of different nature were taken up before these nine benches out of which 986 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs 1,61,65,509 has been settled.
BANDIPORA: National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex here today under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Bandipora (Principal District and Session Judge Bandipora) Mohammad Ibrahim Wani. The Lok Adalat comprising of four benches discussed and settled different cases besides the cases of matrimonial nature. Total of 985 cases were taken up in the National Lok Adalat out of which 706 cases were settled amicably and Rs 2,44,720 was realized as fine.
KUPWARA: A National Lok Adalat was today organized across District Kupwara in which 5790 cases of different natures were put up, out of which 5054 cases were amicably settled, realising an amount of about Rs.62.74 lakh. A total of eight benches were constituted by chairman DLSA, Tasleem Arief, (Principal District and Sessions Judge Kupwara) across the district
GANDERBAL: District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal under the chairmanship of Chairperson District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal, Shazia Tabasum and under the guidance of Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal, Tabasum, organized a National Lok-Adalat at District Ganderbal today. Three benches were constituted for the amicable settlement of cases including two at District Court Ganderbal and one at Munsiff Court Kangan. First Bench was presided over by Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Umi Kulssom, Chief Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal and Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, both as Bench Members. Second bench was presided over by Waseem Mirza, Munsiff/JMIC Ganderbal and Advocate Sajad Hyder Salathi as Bench Member. Third bench at Munsiff Court Kangan was presided over by Kartar Singh, Munsiff/JMIC Kangan and Advocate Imeetul Mehraj as Bench member. Overall 621 cases were taken up for settlement out of which 355 cases were amicably settled or compromised on spot. Rs 35,000 was recovered as fine for violations of different statutes and Rs 22, 47,292 was awarded in (138 NI Act) cases, Bank recovery and other cases.
