LEH, Nov 7: Executive Chairman, UT Legal Services Authority (UTLSA) Ladakh/ Judge of the Common High Court of UTs of J&K and Ladakh Justice Ali Mohd Magrey today inaugurated the office of the Union Territory of Ladakh Legal Service Authority (LLSA) at Dambuchen, Leh.
Commissioner Secretary UT Ladakh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Administration Secretary Department of Law and Justice, Preet Pal Singh and Chairman DLSA R S Jasrotia, Secretary/ Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas, DC Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya, SSP Leh, Rajiv Panday, president Bar Association Leh, Advocate Mohd Shafi Lassu, Secretary DLSA Spalzes Angmo, District Mobile Magistrate Leh, Chemet Yurgyal and staff of District Court Leh were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary DLSA explained the procedure and objectives of DLSA that aims to provide free and competent legal services to the marginalized and downtrodden section of the society.
In the morning, Justice Magrey inaugurated the Legal Literary Club at Elizer Joldan Memorial (EJM) College Leh to make the students aware of the legal rights. Principal District & Sessions Judge, Secretary DLSA, present Bar Association, staff of EJM College and students also graced the occasion with their presence.
Interacting with the students, Justice Magrey, who is also the first Executive Chairman of UTLSA Ladakh, emphasized that the legal literacy clubs in the colleges/institutes shall be instrumental in imparting legal literacy and made the people aware about the legal rights and duties as enshrined in the constitution and the laws.
He also stressed on the importance of protecting ourselves against the deadly novel Corona-virus disease and advised the students to follow all the precautionary measures and SOPs issued by the Administration. He further inspired the students to enrich themselves with legal literacy for their self empowerment and spread the attained knowledge among all the people of the society.
Earlier, District Principal & Session Judge R S Jasrotia in his welcome speech highlighted the importance and the functions of the Legal Literacy Club.
