JAMMU, Jan 23: State Judicial Academy today organized oath ceremony and lecture on ‘Professional Ethics and Conduct’ for newly enrolled Advocates of Jammu province at State Judicial Academy complex, here.
Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Judge, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir presided over the function and also administered oath to the Advocates. About over 100 Advocates subscribed to the oath and received absolute Advocates’ licenses after the oath ceremony.
Justice Masoodi in his address on the professional ethics and conduct of Advocates deliberated on the crucial role being played by the Advocates as officers of the court and members of the Bar. He impressed upon the lawyers to work hard with patience and perseverance. “It is the Bar which is known as the mother of the Bench and it is the knowledge of the lawyer who assists the court in coming to the just conclusion of a case and settle the legal issues,” he said, adding the continuous quest for excellence is one of the reasons that great jurists like Nani Palkhiwala and Fali Nariman were born out of the Bar. A lawyer has not only to serve his client with all the dedications but at the same time he must assist the court in the quest for truth.
He emphasized upon the virtues of the profession and elaborated the avenues available in the field of law.
Earlier, Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy deliberated on the need for subscription to oath by the lawyers fraternity. The function concluded with vote of thanks by Director, State Judicial Academy.
