LEH/SRINAGAR, June 23: Senior-Most Judge of Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) Justice Ranjan Gogoi inaugurated the mega legal services and awareness camp at Polo Ground, here today.
The day-long camp was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Leh in collaboration with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh and District Administration under the directions of National Legal Service Authority (NLSA), J&K High Court Legal Services Committee and J&K State Legal Services Authority.
Justice NV Ramana, Judge Supreme Court of India, Justice Ajit Singh Chief Justice Gauhati High Court, Justice Alok Arade Acting Chief Justice J&K High Court, Justice AM Magray Judge J&K High Court (Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority), Justice Tashi Rabstan Judge J&K High Court Administrative Judge District Leh, Justice MK Hanjuria Judge J&K High Court, District and Session Judge Leh Sunit Gupta, CJM Dinesh Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa, SSP Leh Sargun Shukla along with senior functionaries of Legal Authorities, District Administration and various departments were present on the occasion.
The camp was organized for the first time ever with the concept of empowering the marginalized section of society through legal services. To achieve the objective of social justice for all, an endeavour was made to ensure the availability of benefits to the people especially from economically, socially and educationally backward areas.
During the camp, Justice Gogoi inspected the informative stalls set up by district line departments and enquired about the criteria and facilities being provided to the beneficiaries. He also presided over the distribution of aids among the beneficiaries under various Central and State sponsored schemes.
The welcome address was presented by Principal District and Sessions Judge Leh Sunit Gupta.
Various Government departments and other organizations installed their stalls for the welfare of the people.
Meanwhile, the week-long mega legal awareness camp to empower marginalized sections of the society concluded today which was held under the guidance of Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
Justice Gogoi was accompanied by Supreme Court Judge, Justice N.V Ramana. The major initiative was organized by NLSA in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir High Court, J&K Government, Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority and Jammu & Kashmir High Court Legal Services Committee.
During the camp held from June 18 to 23, multifarious legal services activities including a one-day State level conference for legal services to marginalized sections of the society and four mega-legal services awareness camps in the rural areas of Jammu, Srinagar, Kargil and Leh districts were held.More than 3000 beneficiaries identified under different schemes received various benefits during the legal aid camps.
