Justice Tashi Rabstan chairs meeting

LEH, July 9: Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh (Chairperson, Selection Committee for selection of President and Members of the State Commission and District Commissions, UT Ladakh) chaired a meeting here today regarding selection of President and Members of the State Commission and District Commissions under Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
The committee held detail deliberations on the modalities regarding selection of President and Members of ‘State Commission’ and the ‘District Commissions’.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Ladakh shall issue notice/advertisement calling for application from eligible candidates separately for the Presidents and Members of State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (State Commission) for UT Ladakh and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions (District Commissions) for Leh and Kargil districts.
It was further decided that the notice/advertisement should be published in leading national and state newspapers (both Hindi and English) which have maximum readership besides also publicizing the same through media along with the relevant websites of UT Ladakh for information of all willing candidates. It was also decided that time period for receipt of applications from interested candidates may be kept as 40 days.
In the meeting, it was also decided that the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Ladakh will devise a feasible mechanism for submission of forms online and offline and deposition of fee through online as well as offline mode so that all candidates can easily fill up the requisite forms for the posts of President and Members of State and District Commissions from anywhere in the country.
