Justice to our society

Digvijay Singh
The recent heinous case of rape and murder of a medical student at Kolkata has drawn countrywide indignation and condemnation, shocking the conscience of one and all. This is a highly shocking incidence, not just within the country but across the globe, and people are raising their voices to deliver justice and take urgent measures against the rising tolls of gender-based violence. Every citizen of this country knows that this act of injustice to the life and dignity of the girl was inhumane. The cruelty of the people doing this kind of act shows how bad mindsets exist in this world where we have all the resources to enjoy and flourish lives. This modern world and the progress that we people have made don’t justify the mindsets of people around us. This act of injustice to mankind is nothing more than a disheartening event in our lives. Today, that brave girl was the victim; tomorrow, at her place, one of our beloved sisters or daughters; just the thought of it makes us shiver out of fear. How can we imagine when her family saw and experienced such an incident that happened to their daughter? What time was that for them? A long time from now, when a case in Delhi happened, everyone stood up to protect the dignity of society, and many new laws were made to justify the system of Law and make us believe that we are protected. It is just now a time to raise voices to protect our family, friends, our loved ones and our society from this kind of devil.
We are the people of this nation, and we have the right to live securely. Doctors are doing a great job and are always compared to GOD to save peoples’ lives, they are one to whom we always go whenever we are in danger of our health. Doctors are always there to help us whatever time we go to them. They never deny to treat us. Nowadays, doctors are doing their duties as well as protests, awareness speeches, and more, trying to protect the dignity of this nation. I salute the doctors, and I support with my words this righteous cause.
There are reports which say the number of rapes per minute or hour but I just want to know is there any report on how many of these rapists were caught at the right time to set an example, how many times these ill-minded people were caught and punished in such a way that no other people can even think about it again and why even after so many years of independence just because of these people, our daughters, sisters and mothers are still frightened to live in this world. We should not always tolerate the event just to be in a doubt that we should have done that at that time to protect our people, these events are not eye-openers for the next event to happen. I appreciate that laws are made to set and example and every inhumane act gives rise to circumstances that make think tanks think about rectification which are necessary for this society, for our well being and for our society to live and flourish.
From the ancient, medieval and modern times of society, whenever a finger is pointed towards our beloved mother, daughter or sisters of this society, what happens is what everyone knows: these devils were there at that time also, and today, there is no dearth of this kind of people around us. These people destroy not only their lives but also the lives of victims they search, follow and, in the end, prey. These people need identification and punishment and should be treated in such a way that not only society but people like them take note of it and do not repeat this kind of act.
Has anyone imagined their closest person going to an office, school or college and never coming back and that person became a news of a brutal incident. We can just be sympathetic towards the family but cannot think about making this society a comfortable place to live in which truly inspired the idea of gender equality and make us remember that a girl child makes this world survive. From destroying the biggest devils in history to setting an example of great leadership, from reaching heights in space to making our house a home, we always give credit to females around. For their security what we are doing is nothing more than writing posts and articles. I admit by writing stuff like this, we are raising awareness about these things, but we need more time as well as culture to teach how to protect, respect and give a secure space to females around.
The loss of life is immeasurable, as it is considered the ultimate sacrifice. Despite numerous reforms implemented over the past twelve years to penalize rapists, it is a collective shortcoming of our society that we have not effectively raised awareness about this heinous crime and its profound impact on both the victims and our society. Let’s consider today as a day to start every possible way to spread awareness by any means of communication and pledge to reach every possible person to make them aware of this intolerable offence and protect our loved ones and our society. Let’s make this world a better place to live and the best place for our future generations.
Justice delayed is justice denied; let’s bring justice to our society.
