JAMMU, Feb 22: Gandhi Nagar Police busted a gang of thieves by arresting 11 persons including five juveniles and recovered stolen items worth around Rs 29 lakhs on their disclosure.
Acting on different complaints, a special team headed by Inspector Gurnam Singh Choudhary, Station House Officer, Police Station, Gandhi Nagar, was constituted and acting swiftly, surprised nakas were laid number of suspects were rounded up, SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil told reporters here this evening at his maiden press conference.
During questioning the arrested persons confessed their crime and on their disclosure, stolen items valuing around Rs 29 lakhs were recovered, he added.
“Arrested accused were identified as Mukhtiar Ali of Hugli, West Bengal, Ejaz Ahmed of Mahore, Reasi, Zulfkar of Malik Market Narwal, Jammu, Tahir Ahmed of Bihar, Sonam of Chattisgarh, Parvez Ahmed of Nigam, Budgam Kashmir and five Juveniles who were sent to Juvenile Home RS Pura after legal formalities”, Patil said.
The SSP said that on the disclosure of the accused, 12 motor vehicles including 5 cars, gold ornaments weighing 160 grams worth Rs 7,50,000 and one Samsung Mobile worth Rs 21,000 was recovered.
The arrest was made under the supervision of SDPO South Ram Singh and SP South Vinay Sharma.
“Investigations are in progress and more arrests cannot be ruled out,” said the SSP.
