Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 25: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today demanded Election Commission of India (ECI) to immediately announce Assembly election dates in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here today, JWAM president, Sunil Dimple said that ECI should not delay in holding Assembly elections in the State and immediately announce the dates and schedule for the same as the election observers have already submitted their report to the ECI.
He said but BJP is not sincere in holding Assembly elections in J&K and that is why it is playing foul game in the State. Dimple said we were demanding the Assembly elections along with the Parliament elections but BJP did not permitted ECI to hold simultaneous elections in the State, knowing its imminent defeat in the State.
Dimple said that he is very sure that BJP and Home Ministry under the directive of PM Modi will defer the Assembly election for more time and as it want to run the J&K Govt through Governor House with the BJP Governor.
Reacting on the statements of BJP leaders including PM Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and Ram Madhav on the special status of J&K state i.e. Article 35-A and Article 370, that the articles will be no more after 2020, Dimple said that they are not residents of J&K and they have no right to speak on the fate of these Articles. He said the people of the J&K will only decide whether to continue or revoke these articles.
The JWAM president said we want the continuation of these articles, under the Indian constitution with one Indian Flag. He said we do not want separate Prime Minister for the J&K and no restoration of the pre 1953 position in the State.
