JWAM demands Smart City for Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 28: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) held a protest rally for making winter capital Jammu “A Smart City” and launched the indefinite Jan Andolan from today for the Smart City as Jammu has not been included in the list of Smart Cities.
The rally also raised slogans against the coalition BJP-PDP Government and the PWD R&B, JMC, ERA Ministries, for the worst condition of the Jammu city roads, worse traffic problem in the city, construction of the flyovers in Jammu city, taking up Chenab Water Supply Project, AIIMS for Jammu and to stop the NHAI road tax at Ban Nagrota.
Addressing the protestors, JWAM president Sunil Dimple, said it was very unfortunate that the Jammu City has not been included in the list of 99 cities announced by the Central Government.
He added that long power cuts and acute scarcity of drinking water has badly affected the lives of the people of Jammu city, Dimple alleged.
He demanded for the return of the power projects to the State Government and scrapping of Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan by the BJP-PDP Government to meet the PDD, PHE requirements of the Jammu & Kashmir State.
Dimple said that there is strong resentment among the people of the Jammu region and the Union Government should immediately issue the official notification regarding the opening of the AIIMS in Jammu if it has been sanctioned.
