JAMMU, June 29: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest against Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), ERA and PWD (R&B) for the worst condition of roads, drainage system and lanes & drains.
Scores of JWAM activists led by their president, Sunil Dimple, gathered today on Janipur road at New Plot and raised slogans against PWD (R&B) Department, JMC and ERA. They said with first monsoon rains in Jammu, ERA and JMC sewerage works have proved flopped as all main holes of sewerage lines were overflowing and due to water logging on main and internal roads, the vehicular traffic came to a standstill.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple demanded Governor N N Vohra to hold CBI inquiry into the funds allotted for the ERA sewerage works, besides JMC and PWD (R&B) works, as rains has exposed the worst condition of the drainage system, lanes & drains, roads and the sanitation condition of West Assembly Constituency and Jammu city.
He said that many main holes of sewerage lines are either not properly covered or are in damaged condition due to which vehicles are felling in them and the sewerage water is overflowing on all the main roads and entering in the showrooms, houses and shops of the traders.
Dimple demanded JMC to immediately install the LED lights on the main roads of the Jammu city and in the West Assembly Constituency, as most of the street lights in the lanes are not working and the night terror of dogs is at the peak.
