JAMMU, Mar 10: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) for its failure to provide smooth power supply.
The JWAM activists led by their president Sunil Dimple held demonstrations at Janipur-High Court Road and disrupted traffic movement. They raised slogans against the PDD for not providing smooth power supply in the Jammu West Constituency.
They also criticized the PHE Department for not supplying water to the localities of Jammu West Constituency for last three days.
Addressing the protestors, Dimple said, “There is hue and cry among the people due to scarcity of drinking water and prolonged power cuts. There was a complete blackout during last 24 hours in the Constituency including Governor House due to menace of rats which enter into the transformers of Janipur Receiving Grid Station.”
He gave 24 hours ultimatum to the PDD to restore electricity in various localities of the Constituency and install new transformers, failing which he warned that JWAM activists will block the High Court Road and stop VIP’s movement.
Dimple also demanded the PHE Ministry to immediately start the work on Chenab Water Supply Project and provide totally ‘free of cost’ water to the people.
He also warned the PHE Ministry for not implementing the new policy of installation of meters on water connections.
