JWAM holds protest against unavailability of ration in depots

JAMMU, Dec 20: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest against the State Government and CAPD Minister for non-supply of ration in ration depots besides increasing the rates of ration.
Hundreds of BPL families also participated in the protest led by JWAM president, Sunil Dimple, on the Janipur-High Court road at New Plot.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple served 24 hour ultimatum to the CAPD Minister, Zulfkar Ali and the Director CAPD, GS Chib to restore the ration supply within 24 hours in depots of Jammu West Assembly Constituency, failing which he said that all the main roads of the constituency will be blocked.
He also threatened of ghearo the Civil Secretariat and start State level agitation if the increased prices of Government ration are not rolled back. He said that poor people go every morning on the depots in the hope of getting ration but have to return empty hands as there are no ration in the depots.
Alleging that due to non-supply of kerosene oil, poor people have no oil to light stoves and cook food. He criticized the State Government for snatching the food from the mouths of the poor people.
He alleged that the Food and Supply Minister, Zulfkar Ali has unilaterally increased the rates of the atta, rice, sugar in the ration depots without any approval of the Cabinet while the FCI is giving ration at old rates to the CAPD Department.
Dimple criticized BJP MLAs, MPs and MLCS for remaining mum during the cabinet approval to the decrease in kerosene oil quota to 3 litres per month per family.
