JAMMU, Aug 18: Mission Statehood and Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) along with Mohalla Committee of Ward 16 today staged protest against Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for shortening road width of State Motor Garage and Army Defence Road at New Plot area, here today.
The protest was staged under the leadership of JWAM president Sunil Dimple while other prominent leaders of the Party including Darshna Devi, Rita Devi, Prem Sharma, Ashok Sharma, CP Singh and Gian Singh were present during the protest.
Addressing the protesters Sunil Dimple said that the people were totally against this JMC project and in this regards, they repeatedly appealed to the JMC Commissioner as well as Mayor for stopping the project but nobody seems bothered about it.
Dimple urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and JMC Commissioner to immediately stop the project. “The lanes and drains of the Ward are in dilapidated condition for a long time and the JMC Administration should focus on the development of the Ward rather than shortening the width of the road,” he said.
The locals warned that if JMC fails to stop the project immediately, they will block the Amphalla-Janipur road and the JMC will be responsible for that.
