JAMMU, Oct 20: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest here at New Plot over non-availability of atta, rice, sugar and kerosene oil in ration depots even on the eve of Diwali.
The protesting activists of JWAM and local populace raised slogans against the CAPD Ministry alleging that for last five months there is no atta, rice, sugar and kerosene oil in the ration depots of Jammu region and even on Diwali, the Government failed to make available ration in ration depots.
Addressing the protesters, JWAM president, Sunil Dimple, said that the “Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Security Bill” has collapsed in the State, as people are without ration for months together. He alleged that CAPD ration is being openly black marketed in the open shops of the Jammu city and far flung areas, but the consumers are not getting the ration on the depots. He demanded to arrest the black marketers of the ration.
Taking a dig on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dimple said that Central Government’s promise to reduce the petrol and diesel prices before the Diwali proved to be a hollow slogan and a Jumla again. He urged the Modi Government to issue the directives to the State BJP-PDP Government to exempt VAT on the sale of the petrol, diesel and LPG in the State.
Dimple said that the Modi Government has completely disappointed the people, particularly traders, as they could not enjoy Diwali due to GST and Government’s failure to control the rising prices.
