JAMMU, June 15: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) today held a protest against CAPD Ministry demanding roll back of increased rates of ration including atta and sugar.
A large number of local residents and traders also joined the protest which was led by Sunil Dimple, president, JWAM. The protesting people raised slogans against the CAPD Ministry for increasing the rates of the sugar, atta, rice and unavailability of all these ration items in the ration depots, besides decreasing the kerosene oil quota to the poor families.
Addressing the protesters, Sunil Dimple said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Security Act has totally collapsed and the people of the Jammu region are without ration for the last five months even after increasing the rates of the atta from Rs 8 to Rs 13 per kg and rice from Rs 10 to Rs 15 per kg. He demanded that 50 Kg atta per family or 10 kg per member be given to each family. Dimple also demanded to increase the kerosene oil on per ration card to 30 litres per month to each family and sugar 20 kg per month per family.
The JWAM president also demanded to exempt sale tax and VAT on the sale of petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, LPG in the State.
