JWO expresses concern over breakdown of CAPD system

JAMMU, Sept 14: Jammu Welfare Organization (JWO) in a meeting today held under the chairmanship of Kasturi Lal Gupta has expressed grave concern over the breakdown of consumer affairs system in the State.
The meeting also expressed concern over the stopping of levy on sugar and said after its restoration only 600 grams have been sanctioned per family irrespective of its strength.
The meeting said that supply of flour as well as rice has also been curtailed putting the hapless consumers in the State to many hardships. It said the public distribution system of Consumer Affairs Department is in shambles in the State. Despite the assurance given by Director CAPD to a delegation of the organization that the supply will be maintained nothing was done till date, it added.
The meeting demanded that the levy on sugar be restored as was prevailing in seventies. It also sought intervention of MPs and Legislators in the matter. The organization expressed concern over the delay in crediting of pension in the accounts of pensioners causing hardships to them.
G L Bali, Ashok Mohinderu, Rakesh Kumar, Vinay Sharma, Pramodh Gupta and others attended the meeting.
