JAMMU, Apr 11: On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, a commemorative programme was held at the BJP Headquarters here, today in which party president, Sat Sharma CA, led the party activists to pay floral tribute and remembered the pioneering contributions of Mahatma Phule towards social justice and equality.
The programme was organized by BJP OBC Morcha, president, Sunil Prajapati, who spoke on different social works done by Phule.
Sat Sharma highlighted the unparalleled role played by Mahatma Phule in uplifting the downtrodden and challenging the deep-rooted social evils of his time. He said that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was not only a visionary thinker but also a fearless crusader for social reforms. At that time when the marginalized and oppressed sections of the society had no voice, he rose as a beacon of hope and worked tirelessly to ensure education and dignity for all. He further emphasized that Phule’s work laid the foundation for an inclusive and just society, and his teachings remain as relevant today as they were during his lifetime.
Sat Sharma also spoke about Phule’s landmark efforts in the field of education, especially for women and the underprivileged sections of society. He lauded the role of Mahatma Phule and his wife, Savitribai Phule, in starting the first school for girls in India, setting in motion a revolutionary change in the Indian education system.
Calling upon the youth to follow the ideals of Mahatma Phule, Sat Sharma said, “His life teaches us the importance of courage, compassion, and commitment to social justice. It is our duty to carry forward his mission by building a society that is equitable, inclusive, and empowered through education.”
Rakesh Mahajan, BJP Organizational Election in charge, asked the party activists to take pledge to work towards the upliftment of the marginalized and to keep alive the spirit of reform that Mahatma Phule embodied throughout his life.
Rashpal Verma, national secretary BJP OBC Morcha, said that the life of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule teaches us to stand firm against the social evils.
Balbir Ram Rattan, Ashok Salgotra, Ram Pal, Suraj Parkash Verma, were prominent among others who also paid tribute.
