JAMMU, June 23: Kabir Jayanti was celebrated under the leadership of president Ram Saran Bhagat by organizing a religious function in the Sant Kabir Sabha of the town on the occasion of Prakash Utsav of Sant Kabir.
A large number of people including women and children from the Bhagat community participated in the program. During this, the congregation sang bhajans and praised the glory of Sant Kabir.
SSP Mohan Lal Bhagat, DySP KD Bhagat, former MLA Rajiv Sharma, former MLA Neeraj Langeh, former MLA Dr Krishna, Parshotam Lal, Ashok Kumar, Mangal Das and others were present in the program.
After the Satsang, a grand Shobha Yatra was organized from Kabir Sabha with band music and drums, which passed through Nirdosh Chowk, Bus Stand, Radha Chowk and concluded back at Kabir Sabha. In the procession, the tableau of Sant Kabir was the centre of attraction for the spectators. Devotees were walking behind the tableau, chanting slogans in praise of Sant Kabir.
Speaking on the occasion Ram Saran Bhagat said that Sant Kabir made every person of the society aware of faith and inspired them to follow goodness and help the poor.
SSP Mohan Lal Bhagat threw light on the life of Sant Kabir and underlined his contribution in eradicating social evils from the society. He said that the biggest contribution of Sant Kabir was in establishing a harmonious society based on social and economic justice. He said that it was Sant Kabir who envisioned a society in which every person and community would be treated equally.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Sant Kabir Bhawan in Chak-Avtara, Bishnah, was filled with fervour as it celebrated the 626th Kabir Jayanti. The event witnessed a large turnout from various areas of Jammu division.
The highlight of the celebration was a spiritual discourse on the timeless philosophy of Kabir Vani delivered by esteemed religious preachers Mahant Ajay Dass Ji from Jharkhand and others. Their speeches resonated deeply with the audience, emphasizing Kabir’s teachings of compassion, equality and simplicity.
FC Bhagat, president of the Kabir Sabha, underscored the relevance of Kabir’s teachings in contemporary times. He stressed Kabir’s principles of altruism, advocating for harmonious coexistence irrespective of caste, creed, or social standing. Bhagat called upon the public to draw inspiration from Kabir’s teachings and integrate them into their daily lives.
Prominent amog those present included, Chander Prakash Ganga (ex-Minister), Dr DK Manyal (ex-Minister), Prof Garu Ram Bhagat (ex-MLA), Ashwani Sharma (ex-MLA), Darminder Kumar (DDC), Dalip Kumar (Chairman BDC), Shashi Sharma, Gurdass Bhagat (Chairman Litigation), Manohar Lal, Bhagwan Dass Sharma and many Sarpanches, Panches and other office bearers.
